How I Feel Today

I try not to be a publicly sore loser. I also try not to gloat during good times. So I will sum up how I feel today in this video. The girl in the pinkish-purplish dress? Yeah, that's me.

And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

DR here again - I would gloat, but I'm too dang tired after sitting up till about 1:00 am last night. BR and I were talking about memorable elections. This one is exhilarating, but for sheer impact, it doesn't beat the feeling of going to bed eight years ago thinking Gore would be the next president and waking up to find out that - no-o-o, he's not. Co-workers were standing in my door crying over that one.
BBC America commentators were practically giddy this morning over the election, though, and quoting every head of state from Russia to Venezuela about new doors opening in foreign relations. Obama's got his work cut out for him in almost every area imaginable.
The presidency will surely age him more than it did Bill Clinton, if he manages to survive the full term without an attempt on his life. God help him, literally.

I didn't vote for Obama, and I still have my concerns about having a single party in the White House and with a filibuster-proof majority in Congress. But I am proud to live in a country that was willing to elect an African-American. Plus, after 8 years of Dubya, it will be nice to have a president who knows how to string two words together, and does not seem to be a prisoner to ideology.
